What is bang!?

Steven Sheil - Local Hero

Steve Sheil

We are delighted to announce that November's Local Hero will be Steven Sheil, who recently horrified festival audiences here and around the world with his startling first feature, the grim and visceral horror feature Mum & Dad.

Mum and Dad - Steven Sheil

Steven has been based in this region for over fifteen years, making shorts, teaching film and working as a director of photography. But he has always had an interest in macabre cinema. He is co-director of the Mayhem Horror Film Festival and director of a series of brilliant and dark short films that led to his feature debut.

Through A Vulture Eye - Steven Sheil

Shorts like the unsettling Through A Vulture Eye, which tells a tale of guilt and ocular horror and was shot in only a single day, Cry, which plays like the last reel of a lost horror film, filled with an unsettling atmosphere of dread and the potential for extreme violence and the truly uncanny Deliver Me, which tells the tale of a faith healer and asks where does disease go when it has been torn from those who suffer. Steven is currently working on a new feature.
