Sarmad Masud

Sarmad Masud's directortorial debut at Bang! was the excellent 'Even Heroes Die' in April 2003 and since then he has brought us a wonderful body of work that surprises and delights with story telling magic. Born in Nottingham, Sarmad graduated from Hull School of Art and Design.

'An Indian Restaurant' draws on Sarmad's experiences working in the restaurant business and he reflects in the film the divide between staff and customers.

Sarmad's latest piece 'Happy?' returned the 27 year old to Kashmir and uses a street cast of first time actors who really shine as Ali contemplates his place in the world.

It seems so different from the Leeds International Film Festival Best Short Film Award winner 'Six and Out' and yet it reminds us that though people are thousands of miles and culturally separate there is a humanity that connects us all.
