The Californian director, Brian Kaufman has delivered a deadpan comedy that really cracked us up! This is its International Premier and we are delighted to have this chance to screen Just Add Alcohol to its first foreign audience - Us!
Last year Bang! sent out a bunch of films to California to be screened at The Other Venice Film Festival on the shores of Venice Beach - it just seemed logical that a land locked English town famous for men in tights should team with a sunny, Pacific beached, earthquake wracked super city... we have so much in common...
... so this year we decided to invite some American filmmakers into our fold and Just Add Alcohol is just what we need, one that is sure to be appreciated by our regular Nottingham audience and our lovely guest filmmakers.
The film follows a pair of deluded slackers as they desperately try to track the elusive, mythical Sasquatch through deep forests in an attempt to make a little money marketing Big Foot Jerky. But along the way, their friendship is stretched and tested.
Beer, work, beer, big cars, beer, guns, beer, girls, beer, big foot, more beer and revenge are the order of the day and Kaufman is definitely a name to watch - the film is assured, nicely shot on DV and the characterisation is acutely observed and the performances are first rate. Kaufman made this hilarious film as part of a planned trilogy and is currently hard at work on the final segment of what will add to the entire collective consciousness of society and its beliefs and culture! This is the real thing and it's really, really funny.
