Bang! August 2006 Preview
WORLD WIDE PREMIERSasquatch Comes to NottinghamSummer Shorts - A Festival of Film!Bang Short Film Festival, the fastest growing and most vital festival in the region is back for a summer treat of brilliant new short films from the brightest talents in the region, the country and the whole wide world. Recently bang! screened four films from this region at The Other Venice Film Festival in Venice Beach, California, - and now we are delighted to return the honour and will be screening the world wide premier of the hilarious "Just Add Alcohol", directed by Brian Kaufman, a twisted tale of two losers desperately searching for the legendary Sasquatch to make their fortunes selling it as Big Foot Jerky. "Just Add Alcohol" really is a must see. Also the beautiful "Midsummer Dream" an evocative piece linking LA and New York. Let's not forget the homegrown talent though! We are also screening the best from the regions up and coming stars of the silver screen... and we've got some real cult classics in the making! Debut film "Skeletons" is a brilliantly written and surprising film from Nick Whitfield, a Derbyshire based director of rare talent and a surefire festival hit... we expect to hear plenty more from this name in the future and a feature film from Nick cannot be that far away. "Lightheaded" by Nottingham's Iain Finlay is a brilliantly surreal mixture of live action and digital manipulation to tell a tale of the oppressed fighting for their rights in a totalitarian society - an incredibly creative film from a very talented filmmaker. Bang! has something for everyone - great animation from the region, including the Samurai comedy, "Deliverance", from Simon Ralph and Lee Parker, a fantastic Zombie Horror movie - the gory, 70's styled "Gasoline Blood", by David Pope, a great selection of films suitable for all the family - with a range of cartoons, pop videos and comedies from all over the region. Bang! is screening films from Nottingham, Derby, Leicester and as far away as France, Finland and the USA, making it a truly international experience but with a strong local flavour. On Saturday (3pm) we have a special programme for young audiences, screening vital new work. On Sunday (5pm) - a screening in Broadway Cinema's Café Bar of experimental, art, animation and music. On Sunday Night (8.30pm) the Main Programme features exceptional new films from the region and beyond. Bang! is the most important short film festival in the region, a showcase of developing new talent and the place to be for all young filmmakers keen to make their mark. |
